Cover Cookies: Anna, Lola, and Isla

A few weeks ago, Jamie over at The Perpetual Page Turner asked me if I'd be willing to make some cookie for the Anna, Lola, and Isla readalong! I'd planned on doing them anyway, but this gave me the extra bit of motivation I needed to ACTUALLY get them done.  I'm super pleased with how they turned out!  Nor could I resist the temptation to turn the cute buttons into cookies as well.

Cookie Covers: The Grisha Trilogy Edition

So, in case you somehow missed it, we're having an entire Grisha themed week this week. Which leads me to today's post.

When I first decided to start making cookies based on book covers, THESE covers are the reason why. I love, love, love them so much. They're absolutely gorgeous, and I'm happy to say they translated exactly how I imagined into cookies.

Cookie Covers: Divergent Edition

I wasn't originally planning on doing a whole post on this (and this really isn't going to be a full post), but I couldn't wait to show you guys the Divergent cookies I made for the movie premiere this weekend!

 I'd previously made each of the faction symbols, so I did those once again on mini-cookies, but this time I decided to once again challenge myself and recreate the book cover as a cookie. Here's what I came up with!

Also, I hosted a flash giveaway on twitter the past two days, and Daphne from Gone Pecan won these cookies plus a personalized Amity one (her faction of choice).

As soon as I saw on the schedule that there was going to be "Mash Up" of books & a hobby, I knew immediately what I was going to do. 3 years ago I started decorating cookies to provide a little extra income for my family (and to support my book buying habit!). For the past year and a half, I've started decorating cookies to go along with some of my favorite books either for my book club or movie premieres. More recently, I've started recreating book covers as cookies. The first set of cookie covers were made for the releases of Ignite Me by Tahereh Mafi and Cress by Marissa Meyer; they can be found here. 

So for the Mash Up and my next set of "Cookie Covers", I decided to take on some of my favorite covers by one of my favorite authors, so here they are:

Attachments, Fangirl, Eleanor & Park, and Landline

Cookie Covers: Ignite Me & Cress

Welcome! Today I'm starting a new feature here on The Broke Book Girls! One of the four (yes, four) jobs I do when I'm not spending time with my wild and crazy little boy is decorating cookies. I absolutely love making cookies for people, and I'm thankful that I've been able to turn a hobby into a part-time profession. I decided what better way to combine my love of cookie decorating with my love of books than to recreate some of my favorite book covers and those of upcoming releases I'm excited to read.

So, without further ado, here are the first two book covers I decided to make:

I cannot wait to read these two books this week. Ignite Me will most definitely be read first thing tomorrow, with Cress being started shortly after.

These cookies took SO long to make (like hours. They're officially the cookies I've spent the most time on EVER), but I'm really pleased with how they turned out. I have lots more book covers planned, but please feel free to comment with any suggestions of covers you'd like to see recreated!

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

To celebrate the movie release of The Hunger Games: Catching Fire today, I made cookies! One of my part-time jobs is decorating cookies, so what better way to combine my love of books and cookies than making some to celebrate today's movie release!?
