As always, TTT is hosted by: The Broke & the Bookish
This week is like Top Ten Tuesday Christmas for us. We pretty much get to pick whatever topic we want that has already been done. SO. MANY. CHOICES. Do we do our favorite auto-read authors? Or maybe our favorite fictional couples? Or how about books you want to see made in to movies? All excellent options. But in the end we had to go with our top ten favorite book covers.
Lindsay's Selections:
I could make it super easy on myself and list each book for a series together. Because that would be 10. Easily. But I won't. Cause that's cheating. Plus I get to show you more pretty covers this way.
1. The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
5. These Broken Stars by Amie Kaufman & Meagan Spooner
6. A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller
7. Gorgeous by Paul Rudnick
Sarah's Selections:
There are SO many wonderful book covers out there to choose from. Only choosing ten is ridiculously hard but I think I've narrowed it down. Some of the books are still on my TBR list. Here are my top ten favorite book covers.
2. Rags and Bones: New Twists on Timeless Tales by Various Authors
3. A Certain Slant of Light by Laura Whitcomb
4. The Grisha Trilogy by Leigh Bardugo
5. Mrs. Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs
6. Brightly Woven by Alexandra Bracken
7. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
8. Jellicoe Road by Melina Marchetta
.9. The Wolves of Mercy Falls Trilogy by Maggie Stiefvater
10. For Darkness Shows the Stars Series by Diana Peterfreund
*Note I was supposed to make Sarah's all fancy like mine, but ran out of time. And then my kid got sick. So... it didn't happen. Pretend it did, okay?*
I love the covers of These Broken Stars and The Wolves of Mercy Falls books too. And, Doll Bones! I've always loved the Doll Bones cover and I've never heard anyone say they like it before.

I love the a Doll Bones cover. There's something subtlety creepy about it that really gets me!
DeleteGreat cover selections. It's always heartening to see original covers, instead of the same 4-5 styles over and over and over again. As an amateur artist, I'm always drawn to the use of colour, and as a tyopgraphy geek, I love when a cover uses a special typeface, chosen with care, instead of something generic.

I totally agree! I love variety in covers. I enjoy when there is a unique cover for sure. (And YES to the typography. I think that's why I like some of these so much-it makes me want to find the font they used!)
DeleteI chose this topic too! *High fives you* The Lunar Chronicles, For Darkness Shows the Stars, Across a Star-Swept Sea, and These Broken Stars also made my list! I also think that the Shatter Me covers are super cool. :) My list: http://aliceinreaderland.com/2014/02/24/covers/

What beautiful covers! A good cover definitely draws me to a book. These Broken Stars has such a pretty cover.
ReplyDeleteAwesome choices! I've been eyeing the Shatter Me series for ever now, I'm really going to have to buy them.
ReplyDeleteMy Top Ten Tuesday
Such beautiful covers! A few of these have ended up on my TBR list just because of the covers. I am automatically drawn to pretty dress books. :)

I also cheated and listed over 40 secondary characters. Great book cover selections. I'm a sucker for the "Pretty Dress Books," it's how I found The Luxe series by Anna Godbersen which I love.

These are all such great book covers! I love them! I too love the the "Pretty Dress Book"! It is how I first picked up The Selection books. The Luxe series too.
ReplyDeleteGreat list! :D
You two have very different taste in book covers! I love the covers for the Shatter Me trilogy. Someday I'm actually going to read the books. I keep putting them off for some reason. Great selection this week! Please visit my TTT here! Also, I am a new follower, and I would love if you followed me back!

I love that all you two have in common is the Grisha trilogy! Kind of awesome and gives us more to look at! Completely agree with all of Lindsay's picks: I would pick the same ones :)
